UniMoney — Student Euro/Toman Exchange Board
Iranian students in Italy need euros while their families pay in tomans, and the usual options are exchange shops with wide spreads or anonymous Telegram groups. UniMoney is a board for that corridor: a student posts how many euros they want to buy or sell, at what rate and by which transfer method, and a student on the other side makes an offer. Once both accept, each pays a small service fee and the counterparty's contact details unlock; the money itself moves directly between the two, one payment inside Iran and one inside Europe. The platform verifies who is trading, keeps a heart-based reputation and runs disputes, but never touches the funds.
// Architecture
A FastAPI API on PostgreSQL 16 is the single source of truth; a Next.js web app and an aiogram Telegram bot are two front ends to the same flows, and an admin panel handles verification, disputes, rates and fee settings. Sign-in is by Google or a Telegram deep link, and a background job, guarded by a Postgres advisory lock, rebuilds the reference EUR/toman rate every 30 minutes. Fees are paid from a wallet topped up through Orv Pay (card-to-card or crypto), with HMAC-signed webhooks and idempotent crediting.
// Key capabilities
Rule-based matching
Offers are only allowed between opposite-side listings in the same currency whose rates are within 3% of each other; the deal settles at the midpoint rate and the smaller of the two amounts.
Students only
A recognised university email through Google approves an account automatically; anyone else uploads a student card that an admin reviews before they can make an offer.
A reference rate built like the market
There is no clean euro-to-toman quote, so the rate is USDT/toman from Wallex (Tetherland as fallback) multiplied by EUR/USD, shown as a reference only, never as a guaranteed price.
Fees known up front
0.5% per side with a floor and a ceiling, shown in a public calculator, frozen at the moment of the offer and refunded if the deal is cancelled while still at the offer stage.
